10 Key Points About NECO 2024 June/July SSCE Examination Timetable: What You Need to Know
- NECO Examination Overview: The NECO Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) is a crucial assessment for students in their final stage of Secondary School Education, categorized into SSCE Internal Examination.
- Examination Dates: The NECO SSCE internal examination written exams is scheduled to commence on Monday, 1st July, 2024, and conclude on Friday, 26th July, 2024.
- Variety of Subjects: With a total of seventy-six subjects, the examination offers a comprehensive evaluation of students’ knowledge and skills across various academic disciplines.
- Specific Examination Venues: Certain subjects such as Physical Education, Auto Mechanics, French, Music, and Arabic have specific venues for practical examinations, which candidates should confirm from NECO offices in their respective states.
- Large Candidate Sets: Practical examinations in the sciences, stenography, computer studies, and data processing will be organized in sets due to the large number of candidates and limited equipment availability.
- Preparation Time for Candidates Writing Visual Arts: Candidates taking subjects like Visual Arts (Creative Design) should receive papers IV at least one weeks prior to the examination date.
- Preparation Time for Candidates Writing Craft : Candidates taking subjects like Welding and Fabrication, and Engineering Craft should receive Practice at least three weeks prior to the examination date.
- Preparation Time for Candidates Writing Dyeing and Bleaching: Candidates should receive papers such as Dyeing and Bleaching 1B, Photography 1B, Painting and Decoration 1B, Printing Craft Practice 1B, and Leather Goods Manufacturing and Repair 1B at least two weeks prior to the examination date.
- Literature Aspects: Nigerian languages such as Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Edo, Efik, and Ibibio include literature aspects in the examination.
- Extra Time for Special Needs: Albinos and blind candidates will be provided with an additional 30 minutes in all subjects, with blind candidates required to utilize NECO-supplied OBR customized braille sheets.
- Calculator Usage: The use of scientific calculators is permitted during the examination, but programmable calculators are strictly prohibited.
- Prohibited Items: As announced by the AG. Director Registration, Hajara Ali, candidates are reminded of the strict prohibition of electronic communication devices in the examination hall Items such as programmable calculators, mobile phones, iPads, tablets, smart wristwatches, glasses, pens, and any other gadgets capable of transmitting or storing data are strictly off-limits, ensuring the integrity and fairness of the examination process.
