Outrage as FG Bans Eedris Abdulkareem’s Protest Song — VeryDarkMan Fires Back
Government Under Fire for Censorship
Popular Nigerian activist VeryDarkMan has taken aim at the Federal Government following its decision to ban the airplay of Seyi Tell Your Papa, a protest song by veteran rapper Eedris Abdulkareem. The ban, which affects both television and radio broadcasts, has stirred widespread reactions across social media platforms.
VeryDarkMan didn’t hold back in his response, labeling the country “a joke” and accusing its leaders of ignoring pressing national issues.
“Can you imagine these evil leaders?” he said in a video. “So you want us to go through all these insecurities in the country and keep quiet?”
He pointed out that while Nigerians continue to suffer from violence, hunger, and insecurity, the government chose to focus on silencing music that speaks the truth.

VeryDarkMan also showed support for Eedris, hinting at a follow-up action in response to the ban.
“@abdulkareemeedris get ready, we are shooting another video. Them go ban tire…”
He continued with a powerful statement echoing the song’s message:
“SEYI TELL YOUR PAPA, PEOPLE DEY KPAI. TELL YOUR PAPA COUNTRY HARD. If them no want make we talk, they should secure lives and properties of Nigerians.”
Freedom of Expression or National Threat?
This incident raises serious questions about freedom of expression in Nigeria. While the government may argue that the song incites unrest, critics believe silencing artists is not the solution.
With insecurity, poverty, and political tension growing, many believe songs like Seyi Tell Your Papa give voice to the voiceless, something the nation desperately needs.
