In an unexpected turn of events that’s sparking reactions online, popular influencer Ashmusy has reached out to social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM), begging for his assistance in recovering a staggering ₦33 million from an alleged scammer.
The news was made public by VDM himself in a video update, where he detailed the conversation between him and Ashmusy. According to VDM, the message came as a surprise, especially considering their turbulent history.
“She said, ‘VDM how are you? I need your help with a case,’” VDM recounted in the video. “She claimed someone scammed her and has held her ₦33 million for more than a year.”
The man in question, identified as Obinna Martins, allegedly refused to return the funds and continues to flaunt a luxurious lifestyle on social media, while Ashmusy reportedly deals with the emotional and financial aftermath of being defrauded.

Past Insults Resurface
The irony of the situation wasn’t lost on VDM, who reminded his followers of the insults he once endured from Ashmusy. He recalled a previous public spat in which she referred to him as a “pig” during a disagreement involving an unpaid advertisement.
“Oh VeryDark pig, please shut up. You’ve been seeking my attention for months. Disrespectful pig,” VDM quoted from Ashmusy’s past comments.
So when she followed him on social media, VDM knew something was up. She sent a private message apologizing for her past words and asking for a conversation.
“I apologize for calling you a pig. Please, I would love us to have a conversation when you have a minute,” she wrote, according to VDM.
VDM’s Response:
Despite the hurtful words from the past, VDM said he’s willing to help if Ashmusy provides credible documentation.
“I don’t repay evil with evil,” he said. “If she sends proper evidence—transaction details, dates, and reasons—I’ll write a petition and involve the right people. If it’s within my power, I’ll help.”
VDM used the opportunity to reflect on his journey and share a message with his audience.
“This situation has taught me to never stop helping people, no matter how much insult I get. Because if I had quit back then, this platform wouldn’t even be here today,” he said.
He concluded with a piece of advice:

“Be careful how you treat people. You don’t know who you’ll need tomorrow.”
The unexpected plea and mature response from VDM have sparked discussions across social media, with many applauding him for taking the high road despite the history.
