    Delta State Orders April 28 School Resumption for Third Term, Warns Against Absentee Teachers

    As the academic calendar progresses, the Delta State Government has officially announced the resumption date for the third term of the 2024/2025 academic session.

    All public and private primary and secondary schools in the state are directed to resume on Monday, April 28, 2025, while boarding students are expected to return on Sunday, April 27.

    This directive was issued via a statement from Mr. Daniel Akiri, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

    He released the information on behalf of Mrs. Rose Ezewu, Commissioner for Secondary Education, and Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, Commissioner for Primary Education.

    According to the release, classes will begin immediately after students have completed a general cleanup of their classrooms on Monday morning. The activity will be carried out under the supervision of their teachers, reinforcing discipline and readiness as part of school culture.

    School Heads and teachers have been instructed to be fully present and prepared to commence teaching on resumption day.

    “The government will not tolerate any absenteeism,”

    the statement warned, emphasizing that teachers must be at their duty posts at all times.

    To ensure strict compliance, both Commissioners and the Permanent Secretary will lead teams to monitor schools across the state.

    Their mission: check readiness, ensure proper supervision, and hold educators accountable.
