Popular social media personality and activist Martins Otse, famously known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), shared an emotional update about the cyberattack that rocked his NGO.
In a heartfelt video, he expressed gratitude to supporters and revealed significant progress in recovering the stolen funds.
- Over ₦78 million has been recovered from the ₦180 million stolen via the cyberattack.
- VDM said the crime is linked to an insider and traced suspects to Ghana.
- The NGO’s website faced over 600 cyberattacks, predominantly from the United States.
VDM Shares His Story
In his Instagram video, VDM thanked everyone who reached out to support him during this challenging time. He said:
“I really want to say thank you to all the people that have called to reach out to me since this thing happened… Even some people I didn’t expect called to check up.”
The activist detailed how his team had recovered ₦78 million and tracked one suspect who fled to Ghana.
VDM and his team plan to travel there soon to follow the lead. He added that forensic analysis revealed the highest number of cyber threats originated from the U.S., with others coming from Nigeria, Moldova, Singapore, and Israel.
