Popular Nigerian disc jockey, DJ Commissioner Wysei (real name Iwuagwu Patricia Ebere), has been remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Facility in Lagos until May 8th, 2024.
This follows allegations of assaulting police officers.
The Charges
The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the news on social media. According to Hundeyin, DJ Commissioner Wysei is facing charges of:
- Assaulting police officers
- Resisting arrest
- Obstructing police officers in the discharge of their duties
He wrote:
“For assaulting police officers, resisting arrest and obstructing police officers in the discharge of their duties, Iwuagwu Ebere aged 29, popularly known as Commissioner DJ Wysei has been remanded by the court in Kirikiri correctional facility till May 8, 2024 while her bouncers who aided and abetted her were remanded in Ikoyi correctional facility”.
Court Hearing and Remand
Following her arrest, DJ Commissioner Wysei appeared before a Magistrate Court sitting in Eti-Osa, Lagos. The court ruled for her remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility until May 8th, 2024.
It’s important to note that this is a remand, not a conviction. The legal process will continue until a final verdict is reached.
DJ Commissioner Wysei Bouncers Also Remanded
Hundeyin further stated that DJ Commissioner Wysei’s bouncers, who allegedly aided and abetted her during the incident, were also remanded. They are being held at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility.
While details of the alleged altercation remain unclear, DJ Commissioner Wysei’s legal team will likely be working on her defense. The coming days and weeks will reveal more about the case as it progresses through the court system.
